Let’s talk about how we as disabled people navigate communication and information. We all have different access requirements and experience various disabling barriers, whether as neurodiverse people, autistic people, learning disabled people, people with mental health needs, people with information processing needs, Deaf people, and people with sensory or physical impairments. Access to communication, information and knowledge is an important issue that is often ignored or overlooked when talking about our right to equal access. What assumptions do non-disabled people make when they communicate with us? How are we excluded from the world of information and knowledge? How would communication and information be accessible and inclusive for us? How can we create solidarity between people with various communication styles and information access requirements?
